Families & Child Care: What does this mean to you?

It could mean finding affordable child care close to home, meeting other parents through a family drop-in, accessing parenting support, or simply having welcoming places where children and families can learn, play, and belong.

As Vancouver prepares for the 2026 municipal election, neighbourhood houses across the city are inviting residents to share the issues that matter most to them. Throughout the summer, we’ll bring community voices together and share what we hear directly with mayoral and council candidates this fall.

Neighbourhood houses help make communities more family-friendly through licensed child care, family programs, early learning opportunities, parenting support, and community connections. Across the ANHBC network, we provide 2600 licensed child care spaces and offer 30+ types of family and early years programs, creating spaces where children thrive and families build lasting relationships.

The City also plays an important role. Through planning, community amenities, partnerships with nonprofit organizations, and investments in welcoming public spaces, Vancouver can help create neighbourhoods where families have the support they need to thrive close to home.
