Staff Highlight: Stephanie San

Spotlighting one of our amazing team members so you can learn more about the people who help make our organization what it is. This time, we’re chatting with Stephanie San from South VancouverNeighbourhood House about her role as UX, Marketing and Communications Coordinator.

"My neighbourhood house journey was first lit on a snowy winter day in 2009, when my Grade 3 class trudged through the cold to South Vancouver Neighbourhood House to place donations beneath a glowing community Christmas tree. Though the memory is misty, the warmth of giving back sparked an ember that never faded. That ember grew in 2014 when I returned as a youth volunteer and board representative. Over the course of four years, friendships ignited, connections deepened, and SVNH became a second home.
In 2018, I joined the SVNH front desk team to support my studies (and my daily bubble tea fund). As a pre-med student, my desire to help others burned brightly and shaped my daily work. When COVID shifted the world online, my healthcare spark dimmed - but my passion for art and design was reignited. From those embers, I found my path in User Experience design.
Today, that fire has carried me back to SVNH as the UX, Marketing, and Communications Coordinator. For the past three years, I’ve blended service, design, and technology to tell community-centered stories and showcase South Vancouver’s vibrant diversity.
Beyond SVNH, I’ve supported multiple projects across ANHBC and helped design its Strategic Transformation launched earlier this year. I am deeply grateful to the hearts and minds who fanned the flames of my growth—and proud to carry that fire forward as a neighbourhood house person. "
