What is Neighbourhood House Week
Neighbourhood House Week (NHW) is an annual celebration in British Columbia that recognizes the vital role of neighbourhood houses in fostering inclusive and connected communities. In 2025, this week is officially proclaimed to take place from May 4 to 10 across the province. This year we are celebrating NHW on May 14th with a community event!

Why "from Roots to Leaves"?
This year’s theme, From Roots to Leaves, was chosen by the Communications Working Group—a collective of team members from neighbourhood houses across our network.
Building on last year’s theme, Dreaming Forward, we wanted to honour both where we’ve come from and where we are today.
The roots represent our shared history—our deep connection to community, the people and movements that have shaped us, and the values we’ve grown from. The leaves symbolize the vibrant, living impact of our work today—how we’ve evolved, expanded, and continue to grow together.
This theme is a celebration of our journey: grounded in purpose, reaching for possibility.
What to Expect at Neighbourhood House Day
Main Stage: Exciting performances and activities during the day, with engaging guest speakers in the evening (programming will be updated soon)
